The Nature Club has started!

The new school term has meant that we can finally start the nature club.  There are two schools in the Lhaviyani atoll taking part in the nature club.  We aim to improve their knowledge of the marine environment and its importance.  'Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world,' especially when educating youth who are our future leaders.  There will be lectures and activities such as beach clean ups. Naifaru Juvenile organises swimming classes for Ifthithaah 5th graders

Naifaru Juvenile conducted a “Swim and Survive” Program from 14-26 September with grade five students from Madhurasathul Ifthithaah . 56 students participated in the lessons, held from 3pm-6pm each day at the beach in front of the Marine Centre and then later in the New Harbour. Out of Sight, Not Out of Mind – English reading made fun

Our Nooraanee preschool here on Naifaru was so excited to receive a surprise package all the way from America. Gender equality and women’s human rights training workshop

Empowering women to participate in elections workshop

On the 28th and 29th of November 2013, Naifaru Juvenile conducted two women’s capacity workshops under the True the Vote project on Naifaru and Olhuvelifushi, respectively. Prize Day at Madhurasathul Ifthithaah

This weekend Naifaru Juvenile helped the local school, Madhurasathul Ifthithaah, to conduct Price Day, an event where the top students of the schools were celebrated with prices in different categories. The event was a big success and we at Naifaru Juvenile sponsored the prizes to students, decorations, sound system, photography and refreshments. Naifaru Juvenile to sponsor Prize Day at Madhurasathul Ifthithaah

Naifaru Juvenile is sponsoring approximately MVR 55,000 to the Prize Day at Madhurasathul Ifthithaah. We sponsor all expenses like the prizes that are to be given to students, decorations, sound system, photography, refreshments. Madhurasathul Ifthithaah agreed to use our logo in all materials related to the Prize Day, and we have signed an MOU with the school, hopefully improving our relationship with the local school and community even further.

Disability Awareness Workshop for Parents and Teachers

Through the SHE-Core Initiative, we invited two facilitators from Care Society in Male’ to hold sessions on disability awareness and recognition in early childhood. The sessions took place over two nights, the 11th and 12th of April, at Nooranee Pre-School on Naifaru, and were attended by forty-one local parents and pre-school teachers. Let’s eliminate plastic bags on Naifaru – an Eco-Bag for every household!

Distribution has begun of eco-friendly shopping bags for all residents of Naifaru. These bags were developed through a World Bank funded program called “Let’s Go Zero Waste” of which the final aim is to eliminate excess waste from Naifaru and to reduce the amount of plastic burnt to keep our island beautiful and atmosphere safe. “Explore the Possibilities” Youth Conference held for Lh. Atoll NGO network representatives

The purpose of this conference was to gather young NGO volunteers from Lhaviyani Atoll to discuss the importance of good governance, women's empowerment, gender equality and community development, and ultimately to educate these young Maldivian citizens on the international political landscape, and how they fit into it locally. The conference was held in the afternoon and evening of the 13th of April 2013 in the Lh. Naifaru multi-purpose building.
