On the 28th and 29th of November 2013, Naifaru Juvenile conducted two women’s capacity workshops under the True the Vote project on Naifaru and Olhuvelifushi, respectively. The workshops were conducted for representatives of all political parties with the purpose of empowering women to participate in elections on both island and atoll levels.

The objective was to inform the participants of which steps can be taken to empower women in their participation in elections in addition to the significance of having female representatives on the island council level. Special attention was paid to the importance of having females voicing women’s issues and rights as well as the role that women can play in the development of the island.
