Maldives Environmental Management Workshop for Local Facilitators

The Maldives Environmental Management Program, funded by World Bank, has been in full swing this week on Naifaru! Environmental Waste Program for School Students

Over the month of February, two international volunteers ran an awareness course in Madharushathul Ifthithaah School for Grade 10 students about management of the community’s natural resources. Matthew Morgan, from England, delivered presentations on topics such as the dangers of overfishing, sustainable fishing methods, critiques of current local fishing practices, as well as general fish and coral identification of local species. Grand opening of the Community Youth Centre Complex

On Saturday 9th March, Naifaru Juvenile was proud to open our newly-completed Community Youth Centre Complex. Having worked consistently with the island’s youth, and always trying to give them opportunities for progress, we remarked that the island has very few facilities to engage them. Celebrating International Women’s Day 2013

On Friday 8th of March 2013, a celebration for International Women’s Day was organized by the Women’s Development Committee in collaboration with Naifaru Juvenile and some other local NGO’s. Life skills session at Madivaru Island for police recruits

Naifaru Juvenile was proud to send a trained counseller, Aminath Reema, and a peer-educated colleague, Aminath Nasha, to Madivaru Island to hold a life skills session for a training batch of police recruits. It was held on Thursday the 28th of February 2013 from 8.30-11.30am. There were 78 participants taking part in the session, and some senior police officials in attendance.
