Disability Awareness Workshop for Parents and Teachers
Through the SHE-Core Initiative, we invited two facilitators from Care Society in Male’ to hold sessions on disability awareness and recognition in early childhood. The sessions took place over two nights, the 11th and 12th of April, at Nooranee Pre-School on Naifaru, and were attended by forty-one local parents and pre-school teachers. Distribution has begun of eco-friendly shopping bags for all residents of Naifaru. These bags were developed through a World Bank funded program called “Let’s Go Zero Waste” of which the final aim is to eliminate excess waste from Naifaru and to reduce the amount of plastic burnt to keep our island beautiful and atmosphere safe. Read more“Explore the Possibilities” Youth Conference held for Lh. Atoll NGO network representatives
The purpose of this conference was to gather young NGO volunteers from Lhaviyani Atoll to discuss the importance of good governance, women's empowerment, gender equality and community development, and ultimately to educate these young Maldivian citizens on the international political landscape, and how they fit into it locally. Two representatives from Naifaru Juvenile attended a training workshop last week in Male' on Voluntary Counseling Testing (VCT), run by a Health Protection Agency from the Ministry of Health.
