Tiny Island Initiative Launched

Naifaru Juvenile form Tiny Island Conservation in collaboration with UK based Tiny Island Volunteers. The aim of Tiny Island Conservation is to bring in international volunteers to the Maldives to assist in a range of fields such as marine conservation, medicine, teaching, fitness instructors, sports coaching, and much more. Strengthening the National response to combat Drug Abuse in the Maldives

Naifaru Juvenile receives a grant from UNODC to fund a one-year project. The program is going to focus on drug awareness for school leavers, unemployed youth and parents. As part of the project we plan to conduct youth camps, health camps, peer education programmes at the schools, and strengthen parental skills through lectures and workshops. Naifaru Beach Volleyball Court

Naifaru Juvenile constructs a beach volleyball court for our community in collaboration with Naifaru Pioneers. There has been a growing wish to introduce new sports to the island to give the youth on the island a larger portfolio of sporting activities. Football Youth Development Programme

Charlotte Farrell, Manchester City ladies football coach arrives on June 17th to conduct football training for youths in Naifaru. The football coaching programme will be aimed at three groups of boys; under 12, under 14 and under 16. Naifaru Juvenile estimates that the programme will affect roughly 120 boys. Football Youth Development Program

Naifaru Juvenile hosts a Football development programme for youth. The opening ceremony was held by guest-speaker, Mr. Hassan Latheef, Minister of Human Resources, Youth and Sports. New Aerobics Centre completed

Naifaru Juvenile starts conducting aerobics classes for our community’s women in our new aerobics centre. The goal of this aerobics centre is to improve the health and fitness of our community’s women. The start-up of this project has been done with help from dedicated volunteers. The centre is set up in our old fire-building and will offer employment for one person to conduct daily training sessions.

Quantity Surveying training programme has started

35 local community members sign up for a quantity surveying programme in Naifaru. The programme was launched by Naifaru Juvenile and TVET in association with the Ministry of Human Resources, Youth and Sports. TVET is a ministry-run organization. Environmental Cleaning Program

Three beach cleaning events conducted by Naifaru Juvenile in collaboration with other NGOs from the island. The purpose of these events was to clean the beaches – a big issue on Naifaru Island where people frequently dispose of their rubbish on the beach. Debris from the ocean also contributes to the build-up of rubbish. The NGO participants and several community members attended the events.

Naifaru Juvenile has held an Islamic Awareness Programme for the people of Naifaru on Friday 23rd april 2010 at 21:00 pm at open ground near Lh. Atoll office.
