Forum held to improve education system of Madhrasathul Ifthitaah

Naifaru Juvenile participates in open forum on improving the educational system at Madhrasathul Ifthitaah, public school from August 8th to August 10th. Women’s football training camp and tournament

In order to encourage female participation in sports, Naifaru Juvenile hosts a women’s football tournament. A total of five teams participated. The tournament took place after a one-week coaching camp.

Stars arrive in Malé to celebrate Maldivan Independence Day

The Maldivian independence Day is celebrated by bringing in famous bands from Male’ to join the local celebrations at Naifaru. Naifaru Juvenile assisted in setting up a stage at the Nooraanee Preschool open area for the bands. The celebrations continued for three nights.

Cake Decoration course completed

We have concluded a one-month course in cake decoration. The goal of the course was to give local women skills in cake decoration to help them set up small home-based businesses and generate extra income for their households. In total 30 local women finished the course.

First Aid Course organised to help the local community

Community comes together to plant over 200 trees

Naifaru Juvenile leads a public event focused on planting trees all over Naifaru Island. During the day the volunteers from the community came together to plant more than 200 trees. The trees were brought in from nearby uninhabited islands. The trees brought in were small trees to minimize erosion on the uninhabited islands. Environmental awareness billboards

As part of our ongoing environmental campaigning efforts, Naifaru Juvenile puts up two large billboards in the harbour area with environmental messages. The specific message relates to beach and harbour cleaning.

Survey for Community Living Standards undertaken.

Naifaru Juvenile members conduct a health survey in Naifaru. The target of the survey was the whole community. The goal was to establish an overview of the health status of our community. The survey was conducted in collaboration with the Naifaru Health Centre.

Eid Al Adha 2001

Naifaru Juvenile participates in the Eid celebrations of March 2001. The celebrations included live music and several sports activities. Naifaru Juvenile was active in arranging several sports events in particular women’s football and volleyball tournaments.

Training of Trainers (TOT)

Training of Trainers programme launched to begin counselling services for drug users in Naifaru. Two members of Naifaru Juvenile attended a Training of Trainers course in Male’, organised by the National Narcotics Control Bureau. The course was held during several days and there were members from a range of Male’-based NGOs. The two Naifaru participants will be running drug awareness programmes in Naifaru in the future to battle the use of drugs
