Juvenile signs MOU with Island Council

On Tuesday the 18th there was a ceremony to mark the 68th anniversary of local preschool, Nooraanee Preschool. The ceremony took place at Naifaru Multi-purpose building and saw the participation of several prominent community members, including the president and members of Naifaru Council, president and members of the atoll council, Mr. Mohamed Karim from the Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital management, and the commander of the Maldivian National Defence Force Northern Area, Acting Commander Abdulla Zuhury.

Leading the ceremony was Ms. Bathuha Mohamed, administrator of Nooraanee Preschool along with teacher, Ms. Murushidha Abdul Sattaru.

During the event several people held speeches. The ceremony was opened by a speech by Ms. Bathuha and two selected children reciting the Quran. The first child recited in Arabic while the second child repeated it in Dhivehi.

At the event, several citizens where commemorated for their long time service to the school. This was carried out by handing over certificates of long service. The certificates were handed to the selectees by Acting Commander Abdulla Zuhury.

The ceremony also saw the signing of an MOU between Naifaru Juvenile and the Secretariat of the Naifaru Council officially giving the responsibility of the maintenance of Nooraanee Preschool to Naifaru Juvenile. The MOU was signed by Chairperson Mr. Abdul Raheem Nashid and the President of Naifaru Council.

The ceremony was concluded with several of the local women performing a traditional dance on stage followed by a buffet for the guests.
